April 23rd– The #LetteroftheDay is “B” as in Budget
When putting together an effective résumé, it is critical to add the proper context and scope to the narrative.
If you are managing a budget, how large is it? There is a big difference managing a $100,000 budget or a $30 million budget. Managing a $30 million budget tells a much different story then managing a $100,000 budget.
If you are leading people, how many? 2 or 200? If you are managing a retail store, are your annual sales $2M or $25M? If you are a warehouse manager, is your warehouse 5,000 square feet with 500 SKUs or 40,000 square feet with 3500 SKUs? Don’t leave the reader guessing and questioning your ability.
April 24th– The #LetteroftheDay is “C” as is Certifications
When preparing an effective résumé, certifications are something to be proud of and something that should be highlighted. However, before listing them on your résumé, ask yourself just how relevant they are to the position you are seeking. Could that space on your résumé be better utilized in other ways, besides listing an irrelevant or outdated certification?

April 25th– The #LetteroftheDay is “D” as in Determination
The job search is difficult under the best of circumstances. Emotions range from anger to nervousness to sadness to joy to excitement and all points in between. When the job search gets you down, determination pulls us through.
One strategy I advise my clients to use, is to make use of inspirational quotes. Quotes can often make us momentarily refocus our thoughts and encourage us with a ray of positivity. Here are a few suggestions on how you can use inspirational quotes during your day.
- Have your spouse text you a different quote each morning.
- Post a different quote each day on your social media platforms to help encourage others.
- At a group meeting, start with one as an icebreaker and discuss what it means to each person.
- If you see a quote you like, take a few minutes to learn more about the author.
